Under eye dark circles

Dark circles:
a common concern for many

Today, online meetings and social media serve as a constant reminder of our appearance. As a result, many of us have become increasingly aware of dark circles under the eyes or under eye wrinkles that may have cropped up over time.
As we lose skin volume, a hollow area can form under the eyes, resulting in a tired, dull and aged appearance. Despite efforts with concealer or serum, sometimes the issue persists. The good news is that there’s a solution available.
Whatever the reason—stress, lifestyle, age or genetics—those who experience dark circles under the eyes or under eye wrinkles can find a solution in dermal fillers. Discuss your concerns with a healthcare provider to find the best solution for your unique needs.

What causes dark circles
under the eyes?

The area under our eyes, known as the periorbital region, is the first facial area to show signs of aging.6 Volume loss causes hollowing of the area, leading to what’s known as tear trough deformity (TTD).7 This loss of volume can create shadows*, and emphasize dark circles* in the under-eye region.7 The underlying cause of TTD is multifactorial.7-8The area under our eyes, known as the periorbital region, is the first facial area to show signs of aging.6 Volume loss causes hollowing of the area, leading to what’s known as tear trough deformity (TTD).7 This loss of volume can create shadows*, and emphasize dark circles* in the under-eye region.7 The underlying cause of TTD is multifactorial.7-8
Three key aspects are:
1.Genetics: differences in our skin that we inherit and show up at a
young age
2.Aging: loss of facial volume in this area over time
3.A combination of genetics, aging, and lifestyle factors, leading to a tired and “grumpy” appearance
*The indentation in the lower periorbital region is often perceived as dark circles or shadows.7
